Hi! I’m Bunny. But you can call me Bun Bun.
Something funny happened at our house. Not haha funny but strange.
Mom came home with boxes. LOTS of boxes! I LOVE BOXES!
Actually, I love what’s IN boxes.
PAPER! and sometimes toys for me but mostly I love the paper.
I love the way it crinkles in my mouth. The way it tastes. The way it gets all mushy and leaves fun lumps on the floor. And according to dad, it’s easily digestible, whatever that means.
Mom says I’m not supposed to eat it.
But why would somebody make something so delicious and then tell me not to eat it?
Anyway. The boxes.
Mom started putting things in them.
I watched. Lots of dishes and pots at first.
Then she picked up one of MY toys.
And put it in a box!
HEY!
I WAS USING THAT!
Okay, I wasn’t.
But I might have wanted it later.
Then she packed one of my beds!
What was happening?
I went to ask Gracie.
She was watching Mom. Gracie watches everything.
I don’t have time for that.
Oh! There’s a piece of paper!
Mom said, “BUNNY! DROP IT!” and then she said “DROP IT” again.
I did. Well, eventually.
I was listening. At least I think I was. I think about lots of things all the time.
I just forgot what she said.
Wait. What was I talking about?
Oh! My toys!
Mom was stealing them!
So I decided to take something of hers.
Her shirt.
I LOVE Mom’s shirts! And her shorts. And her underwear.
I took the shirt to my bed. I was just keeping it safe.
Mom said, “BUNNY! GIVE ME THAT!”
I don’t understand.
She was packing things.
I was packing things.
Well, sort of.
Then Dad came home!
DAD! DAD! DAD!
I LOVE DAD! He’s my person.
I forgot all about the boxes.
Dad scratched my butt. I love butt scratches.
Best day ever!
But he smelled funny. Mom didn’t seem to notice. Something was not right at all.
He smelled like dirt and wood. Mom said he smelled manly. Whatever that means.
He didn’t smell like Dad.
I sniffed his pants. His shoes. His hands.
Where had he been?
Mom said he was working on our new house.
New house? We already HAD a house. A perfectly good one!
With a special place for my bowl! And my bed! And Gracie!
And DAD! I love Dad.
I didn’t understand why we needed another house.
But Dad didn’t seem worried, so I wasn’t worried either.
As long as Dad was home, I was happy.
Gracie was happy wherever I was.
And Clara? Well, Clara was probably sleeping somewhere.
She’s a cat. Cats sleep.
She’s a very old cat. She sleeps a lot.
She thinks she’s the third dog when she’s not sleeping.
We just let her think that.
Anyway, Mom kept packing.
I kept checking the boxes.
And Dad kept coming home smelling like somebody else’s house.
And Gracie just watched. This went on for weeks or months. Hard to know. I’m a dog.
I figured they’d explain everything eventually.
Or maybe they wouldn’t.
Humans are weird.
Oh! I almost forgot!
Mom started taking pictures off the walls too!
She loves her pictures so this didn’t make sense.
Some of them had ME in them!
Now that was just rude.
Okay. Bye!
Love,
